Laura Taylor was born in Maryland to a Brazilian mother and an American father, and raised in London, Ontario. Her childhood was marked by frequent visits to Brazil to visit grandparents and extended family, with many summers spent deep in the Atlantic rain forest. Taylor studied art at The Ontario College of Art, Le Université du Quebec à Trois-Rivières, and at The New York Studio School in New York City. She has been awarded residencies at Kulterrmodell in Passau, Germany; Treffpunkst in Ried-im-Innkreis, Austria; Governor’s Island in New York City; and the Vermont Studio Center, and her work has been shown at AIR Gallery, The Painting Center, Brenda Taylor Gallery, RKL Gallery, the Salzburg International Art Fair, and elsewhere. Since 2010, she has divided her time between NYC and the Catskills.
